Championship Golf on the Scenic Shores of Utah Lake!

“It can be a tough course but it's forgiving if you play
from the right tees.”

— Justin Bloxham, Head Golf Professional

Keeping your eye on the ball is no easy task when the views are as magnificent as those seen from all 18 holes at TalonsCove at Saratoga Springs.
Rule #1 in any sport involving a ball. Easier said than done here at TalonsCove!

We understand the plight of the first-time golfer here. The views across Utah Lake to the Wasatch Mountains present quite an impressive challenge to your focus. But that's okay, because if you're like most golfers who've given us a try, you'll be back time and time and time again!

Our beautiful course, which sets up from 5,128 to 7, 096 yards depending on which tees you prefer, offers a challenging-yet-enjoyable round of golf. Our par-4's and par-5's will yield pars and birdies if you play well. The par-3's at TalonsCove are a serious challenge.

For the best conditioning we close in the winter.
Many courses, in fact most public courses, remain open all winter. We close from roughly December to March to avoid damage while dormant and unable to recover. When the course opens in the early spring, our bluegrass fairways and our bentgrass greens are in great shape. And they stay that way all year.

Why Is TalonsCove one of the most popular new courses in Utah?
There are almost as many reasons as there are holes!
Why do golfers from Salt Lake City, Provo and other locations drive past numerous courses to play at TalonsCove? Here are just a few:

Truly Enjoyable Golf
When owner Doug Horne built TalonsCove, he wanted golfers to enjoy themselves and enjoy the game. Many modern courses are designed to make the architect look good while beating up the “average” golfer. Architect Gene Bates (who has worked with Fred Couples and Johnny Miller) carefully designed a varied layout at TalonsCove that every golfer can enjoy.

Do you want to get beaten up on a “prize winning” course or do you want to have fun?

Sensible Rates
TalonsCove is a daily-fee golf course that's sensibly-priced.

Championship golf on the scenic shores of Utah Lake!
We remembered something that most golf courses have forgotten: golf is supposed to be fun!

Watching a birdie putt roll across our smooth greens will be exciting but the views across Lake Utah are so beautiful that you might forget to look at the ball as it drops in the hole.

Welcome to our signature hole.

The Setting . The Views. WOW!
TalonsCove is one of the few public-access golf courses that truly makes the most of Utah's beautiful topography and scenery. If you have not been to TalonsCove and played golf on a clear day with the views across Utah Lake to the Wasatch Mountains, then you have not fully enjoyed golf in Utah.

Conditioning.
We close for about three months from December 1 to March. Why? To let the course rest and avoid damage while the grass is dormant. In early Spring, TalonsCove is in excellent condition and the rates are no higher than anywhere else.

No poa annua!
Or at least very little. Our superintendent and the maintenance staff work very hard to keep poa annua out of the greens. Poa annua grows like crazy during the day so courses that have a lot of Poa annua have bumpy greens, especially later in the day. At TalonsCove, if you're lining up a crucial putt at four in the afternoon, you can be certain that the green will be smooth and true — just like it was at eight in the morning.

A friendly approach.
We're golfers at TalonsCove and we want to make sure that everyone has an enjoyable day with us. We never take business for granted and we strive to be totally professional at all times.

Did We Mention Fun?
With great views, tremendous variety hole-to-hole and competitive greens fees. And the best value in the Salt Lake City area. After your round, ask yourself this question: “Was that the most fun I have had playing golf at a public daily-fee course in a long time?” We know what your answer will be.

The TalonsCove Checklist.
Put us to the test!

We take your golf pleasure very seriously at TalonsCove. We constantly question what we're doing, compare ourselves to our competition and look for ways to ensure your total enjoyment of every round played here.

So if you've asked yourself the following questions about us, rest assured that we've already pondered them for you!

  • Was the golf course in excellent condition from tee to green?
  • Does it look like they really benefit from closing during the winter, especially in the spring?
  • Did I like the challenging par-3's, especially the 260-yard 6th with the green seemingly perched right in the lake?
  • When I had a par on that hole, the second hardest in Utah, did I get a big thrill?
  • Did I feel that the par-4's and par-5's were sensible?
  • Did I feel that if I had a chance at a par or even a birdie on most of them?
  • Did I enjoy that?
  • Did the links-style layout make me feel like I was in Scotland?
  • Were the views amazing? (We already KNOW the answer!)
  • Was the 9th and 18th double-green cool?
  • Were the greens sensibly-paced and true all day long?
  • Did I play for free on my birthday?
  • Were the fairways wide enough so that I could use my new $500 driver every hole?
  • Did I like the fact that the golf course is very walkable?
  • Did I find the staff personable, friendly, and helpful?

Who can join?
Any male golfer 18 or older with a current UGA Handicap may join. Your skill level will not hold you back from joining as there will be two divisions based on course handicaps.
